SONGS & DANCES FROM
BRITAIN'S ISLES
SONGS & DANCES FROM BRITAIN’S ISLES
Morris,
an ancient English tradition of dance and music,
with it’s probably pagan roots lost in the depths of time,
is still kept alive and going strong in many parts of England.
MORRIS OPEN doesn’t stand for academic studies of some ancient lore
- this would hardly be appropriate for a music that vital -
but instead elements from different musical backgrounds and styles
be it Renaissance or Rock are found in our arrangements
of traditional songs and dances.
SING, SING, ALL EARTH
This
is the title of our special
Christmas show in best English tradition,
a colourful mix of Christmas Carols and Morris Dances,
from the child in the cradle to the mistletoe above the door,
from the shepherds in the field to the Wassail Singers in the street.
